Title: Ogun State - FRSC Commends Ogun Government on Roads Expansion
Post by: OgunState on Jun 26, 2013, 12:31 AM
The Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) has lauded the Ogun State Government for its urban renewal project, saying its roads construction and expansion initiative would drastically reduce carnage and traffic constrictions on roads in the State.

The new Sector Commander of FRSC in the State, Mr. Christopher Oladayo Ademoluti who made the observation today in Abeokuta when he led other top ranking officers of the Command on a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, also noted that the Government initiative was vital to achieving FRSC’s Decade of Action plan.

“It is my pleasure to say that one of the indices for the declaration of our decade of Action plan is that our roads must be in good order. When the roads are wide and in good order, incidence of road crashes and traffic bottlenecks would be reduced. We cannot achieve the plan without the collaboration of various States governments. And on this note, I want to commend the State Governor for his vision of roads expansion throughout the State”, the FRSC boss said.

Mr. Ademoluti also commended the Ambulance Service Programme of the State which he said had greatly assisted his men to rescue accident victims promptly and take them to hospitals, and thereby preventing avoidable deaths. Speaking on the new vehicle number plates and Drivers’ Licence, he said the Commission would start to clampdown on the users of the old items starting from October this year.

“The use of the old drivers’ licence as well as the vehicle number plate ends in September and by October we will begin to sanction users of such. Everyone should migrate to the new number plates and drivers licence which have more security features than the old”, Mr. Ademoluti said. Responding, Barrister Adeoluwa pledged continued support of the State Government to the FRSC in the State.

He said the need to ensure safety of lives and property of residents remained paramount to government, adding that this necessitated the resuscitation of the Ambulance Services and expansion of roads across the State. “You will recall that when we came into office, Ambulance Service was almost prostate.

As a responsible government, we cannot sit and watch innocent lives being lost to road accidents and that’s why we revived the Service by procuring state-of-the-art ambulances which you mentioned”, the SSG said. He challenged the FRSC to do more to ensure that the roads are free of accidents.
