A major highlight of Episode 6 of X Factor brought to Africa by Globacom was the inspiring story of 21 year-old blind singer, Mary Musa Omoyeme.
Abandoned by her father when she was born, the strikingly beautiful young lady lost her sight when she was seven years old. Immediately she was led unto the stage to sing for a place in the next round of the show, one of the judges, Onyeka Onwenu, let out what must have been on in the minds of so many in the audience. "Wao, Mary, you are beautiful!"
Asked why she was in the competition, Mary replied, "My mum taught me never to give up no matter the situation I find myself in. I want all those who are physically challenged to know that being challenged does not limit you at all." On how she has been coping without her eyes, she declared, "It has been God all the way, and I have learned not to limit myself."

Despite arousing much sympathy and emotions from the judges and audience, beautiful Mary could not get a "by" into the next round. She earned compliments from the judges for her beauty and indomitable spirit and for being an inspiration to other physically challenged people. But her rendition of Maria Carey's "I will be there" could not see her through as only M.I. gave her "an absolute yes from me. Your are wonderful and you deserve to be in the competition," the rapper said.
For Rockstone and Onyeka, her performance was not enough to see her to the next stage, considering the stiffness of the competition. They believed Mary needed to work more on her singing ability.
However, there were consoling words for the courageous singer. "Mary, by being here alone, by coming unto the stage to perform despite your sight challenge, you are already a winner. You are an inspiration to millions of people and I admire you for your courage and determination."
Rockstone, also commended Mary for her determination. "I appreciate what you have done, and I respect your courageous spirit. That is beautiful," the Ghanaian father of hiplife said.
Another female singer that got the judges' commendation was vivacious female rapper, Alexander Lawal. Rockstone blurted after her performance, "You blew me away, it is a big yes." M.I. said, 'that's what it is going to take to win the X Factor. You just showed everybody what it is. You have everything, you are good to go."
She also got a vote into the next round from Onyeka who added: "Girl, you did justice to it. It is a yes for me"
