The Three Lions weren't quite able to end their record 15-match winless sequence at the Fifa U-20 World Cup, but Harry Kane's equaliser was the least they deserved for a performance that had plenty of promise and attacking intent.

Just as they had in their opening match against Iraq, England began the better of the two sides and twice went close inside the opening ten minutes, with John Stones heading just wide and Harry Kane forcing Dario Melo into an awkward save from 25 yards.

At the other end, Chile were struggling to make much headway but Angelo Henriquez served warning of his intentions after 28 minutes by jinking in from the right wing to fire narrowly over from the edge of the box. Henriquez might have failed to test Manchester United teammate Samuel Johnstone on that occasion but he was back in the thick of things four minutes later, and this time he earned his side a penalty.

Daniel Potts was the player penalised for a lunging tackle on the Chile striker, and Nicolas Castillo took full advantage, sending Johnstone the wrong way from the spot with a well-placed kick.

England, though, had no intentions of throwing in the towel and 18 minutes into the second half they scored a deserved equaliser through the industrious Harry Kane. Ross Barkley, a driving force throughout, surged forward from midfield and teed up the Tottenham Hotspur striker to step in from the left and drill the ball just inside Dario Melo's right-hand post from 20 yards.
It is never a good thing to draw a game cos everyone always want to win. It's a very sad one for the two teams...
