The police in Orerokpe, Delta State, have rescued the branch manager of a bank in Abraka, Mr Lawrence Iriogbe, who was kidnapped at Okpala, on Benin-Abraka road.
The victim, according to the state Commissioner of Police, Mamman Tsafe, was chained in an uncompleted building at Ugolo village.
On information, police from Orerokpe division stormed the hideout and freed him, while the suspects escaped.
However, the father of a former chief whip in the state House of Assembly, Mr Ejaife Odebale, has been kidnapped in Sapele.
The commissioner said 25 persons were declared wanted for various criminal offences in Ibusa, a community near Asaba, the state capital, where ritual killings and kidnapping in recent times had caused the traditional ruler of the town, Professor Obi Nwaoboshi to raise the alarm.
On the communal mayhem at Amai, Ukwuani area, Tsafe said the police was on top of the situation, adding that most of the kidnapped persons in area were kept in an undisclosed shrine.
