The leadership of the Nigerian Army has said that it will not relent in the prosecution of the campaign against terrorism in the country.
The Chief of Civil Military Relations, Maj.-Gen. Bola Koleosho, gave the assurance while briefing the press on the 2013 Nigerian Army Day Celebration scheduled for July 6.
He spoke on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, in Abuja on Friday.
Koleosho said the celebration would involve activities deliberately designed to show the readiness of the Army to take on contemporary security challenges and insurgency.
He said the theme of this year's event, 'Enhancing the NA Capacity Building Efforts Towards Improved National Security,' was chosen in consonance with the zeal of the service to fight the scourge of terrorism and other security challenges in the country.
He described this year's Army Day celebration as special as the service's 150 years of existence coincided with Nigeria's centenary celebration.
He said, "It affords the NA the opportunity to relate with the larger society, collaborate with them on the maintenance of law and order as well as security of lives and property.
"This theme is deliberately crafted in our individual and collective drive to combat contemporary security challenges.
"I am also delighted to state that we will continue to promote mutual understanding in order to foster healthier relationship between the media and the NA."
