Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Global Success Ministry (GSM), Pastor (Dr.) Chima Emmanuel Okereke, in this sermon, explores the world of inventors to teach the Christians how to attain their goals in life. Excerpts:
All Glory to God for the success of the programme held last week Sunday in the church auditorium on 'Eradication of diseases in Africa'. Those who were present in the service testified to the power of God that touched their lives through His servant, Dr. Emmanuel Chima Okereke.
The sick were healed, the oppressed were delivered and every one present was enlightened by some health experts and medical practitioners on how to live a healthy life. After they had facilitated the health issue, mosquito nets were distributed among the people. It was indeed a great service as all present in the service were richly blessed spiritually, physically and mentally. No knowledge is a waste; what the people acquired hopefully will stick to them forever, and also they will make use of the knowledge for prevention and control of diseases in their lives. So many people are the cause of the sicknesses and diseases they are suffering from today; so they needed enlightenment to prevent them from contacting more deadly and infectious diseases in future. By the grace of God, we will do our best not only with the anointing power of healing which God has given us to heal all manner of sicknesses and diseases, but also with our finance and other means which God has blessed us with, to make sure that diseases are eradicated in order to reduce the mortality rate and make people live a healthy life. A woman who came to the church for the first time said, "today is my first time to worship here and God used His servant to deliver me, I am blessed and as well going home with mosquito net for myself and children; she said 'I will keep worshiping in this ministry because everything I need both spiritual and otherwise are all in this place."
Now back to our topic for the week, "The secret of inventors". An Inventor is someone who puts into existence, something that had never existed before. An inventor can also be said to be a person who is engrossed in inventing. An inventor has passion for making out something new; and it is this passion for the invention that brings it to accomplishment. Now before any invention, there is an existing picture of what the invention will look like; it is out of the picture that the Inventor begins to work and make it a reality. God is the Greatest Inventor. In the book of Genesis 1:1-31; God created the heaven and the earth. Before He began creation, the earth was without form. He was not satisfied with the way it was so He started creating it in a way satisfactory to Him and at the end of every day He created something new. The Bible says "And God saw that it was good and evening came and morning came the next day", and He continued until the 6th day He created man in His own image and likeness and gave them dominion over every living thing on earth. God is the Highest Inventor, our Creator and because He is our Creator, you too ought to be creative as said in the Bible, Psalm 82:6 "ye are gods".
Today, so many people are being celebrated even after many years after their death because of the lasting Legacy they have bequeathed to mankind; something that the world is enjoying till date. For example, Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity and today, electricity is used all over the world; Airplane was invented by Alberto Santos-Dumont, Karl Jatho, John Stringfellow, Wright brothers and today, Airplane still remains the fastest means of transportation which the world is using joyfully. Bill Gates invented a computer software that made computer operation easy. Now tell me why these great people will not be celebrated for their achievements when everyone is benefitting from what they had invented.
Inventing something is not a-day thing; it takes patience, continuity, hard work and sound mind to invent something. Most of these people we mention earlier, although some of their works are still being upgraded by other people or scientist, they remain the ones celebrated because they remain the first set of people that brought these things into existence. It is certain that everyone on earth may not be an inventor but you can stand out in whatever you are doing. For you to be an outstanding personality or an Inventor, you should possess the following attributes:
• Desire
• Separation
•Imagination
• Research
Desire: You must desire to be outstanding or to do something new. Your desire will bring about the creative thoughts. It is the power of creativity that can make an invention or make you stand out in what you do. The book of Proverbs 18:1 states, "Through desire, a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom". When you desire something, wisdom will come to play because it is only through wisdom that you can strategize ways you can achieve your desire.
Seperation: To pull out yourself from distractions inorder to achieve something awesome. When you are distracted, you cannot achieve anything meaningful. Distractions can come in different ways; they may be physical or spiritual, but do not give in to distractions. Try as much as you can to separate yourself from noisy people, people who will kill your dreams, people who do not have anything to contribute to your life positively. 2Timothy 2:16 "But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness". The period of Separation is a period to be alone and think reasonably and see a picture of what you want to achieve. It is a time that God can speak to you based on what you want to achieve. In Genesis 13:14 "And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art Northward, and Southward, and Eastward, and Westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever". It was when Abraham separated himself from Lot that he was able to see all the great things God had prepared for him. your Lot can be anything that wants to stop you from being greater than what you are now; your Lot may be your friends, family members, etc. afterall Lot was Abraham's Nephew and because Abraham was with him, he could not achieve his greatness until he separated himself from him. Look around yourself, if anything is stopping you from achieving your desires, separate yourself from them or your dreams and desires of being great will die gradually. Separating yourself from them, gives you a clearer picture of what you want to do. I pray that every Lot trying to stop you from seeing the picture of what you want to achieve shall be destroyed in Jesus' Name.
Imagination: Imagination comes in after separation. At the time of imagination, you see the picture of what you desire. When you have an imagination of what you want to do, nothing can stop you. The book of Genesis 11:6 says "And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do". Your imagination is a very important tool for accomplishment. So spend your time to imagine good things so that it will be of benefits to you, your family, nation and the world at large. See what you want to do and how to do it. Do not think vainly for vain thinking causes depression. Do not think of how to hurt people, steal or kill anyone or how to tarnish other people's image or other evil deeds, but spend your time to have quality imagination that can give you a lasting joy and make you a Legend such that you will be celebrated forever. I pray that through your achievement, you will be celebrated forever in Jesus' mighty name.
Research: This is a means of boosting your ideas on what you want to do. It is time to study and see other works of Inventors who have done something similar to what you intend to invent so that you can get motivated or encouraged to keep working until you bring your own invention into existence. Many people fail because they refuse to make research. Research makes you even greater than those who have already made an invention because you take ideas from them, coupled with what you have and things will be going on perfectly. 2 Timothy 2:15 says, "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth". Work hard and be diligent in your doings. See yourself as being greater than those that have made it to the top already and keep on pressing on until you get to the top. Read Phillipians 3:14. I pray that God will give you the ability to be established in a greater way in Jesus' name.
