Title: Brazil Are Favourites - Iniesta
Post by: Folami David on Jun 30, 2013, 01:35 PM
Iniesta expects Spain's 29-game unbeaten run to come under severe threat when they face Brazil in the FIFA Confederations Cup final today.
.
The Barcelona midfielder, who scored his penalty in the shoot-out victory over Italy to ensure Spain's place in the tournament showdown, insisted that the hosts are favourites to win the match.
.
"They are favourites because they play at home, because they will have thousands of people behind them," he told COPE.
.
"This factor we must make an incentive. There is no challenge as big as beating Brazil in their stadium.
.
Brazil are a great team, (they have had) a spectacular tournament and (they have) great players."
.
Vicente del Bosque's men, who are eyeing a fourth consecutive international title, have conceded just one goal in the competition but will take on a Brazil side who have scored 11 times in four matches so far.
.
The last meeting between the two was a friendly encounter in 1999 that ended goalless.
.
Spain's last trip to the Maracana to take on Brazil was 63 years ago, when they suffered a 6-1 loss that remains the second-heaviest defeat in their history.
.
Turning his attentions back to his club side, Iniesta also revealed his desire to see Thiago Alcantra stay at Barcelona as interest in the midfielder continues to grow.
.
He added: "As a companion and the knowledgeable player he is, I'd love him to stay, but everyone has their vision and has to be happy with what he does."

I just hope he is not saying this because they are the host country. Host or no host, Brazil will beat Spain.
