A Tarok cultural group, Ngwang Ishi Otarok, has called on the Federal Government to end the attack by Fulani herdsmen on Tarok people of Plateau State.
The group said the massacre of Tarok people in Langtang South Local Government Area was an injustice that must be addressed in order to avert a situation whereby the people might be forced defend themselves.
The Otarok National President, Mr. Pirtim Bali, who addressed journalists in Abuja on Sunday, said over 50 Tarok men and women were killed by herdsmen last Thursday without any provocation.
Bali explained that the herdsmen had attacked and killed Tarok people in 2001 and 2004 and expressed disappointment that the government did not bring the perpetrators to justice.
This, he said, emboldened the herdsmen to launch the latest attack against harmless farmers and their families.
He called on the Federal Government to set up a task force to monitor herdsmen and stop their attacks on people in Plateau State and other parts of the country.
The Otarok leader stated that about 36 victims of the attack were buried in Magama on Saturday, adding that many residential houses, churches and schools were destroyed during the attack.
Bali lamented that even now, the people were still living in fear because security operatives had not been stationed in the three affected communities of Magama, Bugan and Karkashim.
