Ford cars and trucks may soon be able to tell you when to take a puff on your asthma inhaler or test your blood glucose level, as the Dearborn automaker is poised to take its Sync system far beyond infotainment. In the future, a car could help you make the right food choice at McDonald's, coach you to quit smoking or track your symptoms following chemotherapy, according to WellDoc, one of Ford's research partners.

"We're not trying to turn the car into a medical device," a Ford spokesman told Inside Line. "We're a conduit for healthcare to become mobile."
