No fewer than eighteen youth corps members were sanctioned for various degrees of offences during the service year.
The sanction was pronounced by the State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Allison Oguru, on the occasion of the passing out ceremony of 2012 batch 'B' youth corps members in Yenagoa.
According to Governor Dickson, the service year had offered them firsthand knowledge of divergent culture and traditions of the people, stressing that with these experiences, they are in a better position to champion national unity and integration.
He assured that the State government will continue to reward outstanding corps members to serve as encouragement to others to put in their best in their service to the state in particular and to the nation in general.
He said five corps members would be recognized with the State Honours, Chairman's Honours and State commendation certificates respectively. He commended the Batch 'B' 2012 corps members in the State.
In his response, the Bayelsa State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Sanusi Abulrasheed thanked Governor Seriake Dickson for his continued support to NYSC in the State.
He said as the NYSC celebrates its 40th anniversary, a sober reflection is being made and paid tribute to the young, vibrant and educated class of Nigerian youths whose services have deepened unity and integration.
He commended Mr. Oridupa Akindele who he said in spite of his obvious challenge as a blind corps member, still excelled in his duties during the service year.
