Kaduna State Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, yesterday said the state's government would implement the recommendations submitted to it by the peace and reconciliation committee. Set up by the state.

The committee, in its report, identified about 154 causes of conflicts in the state. The committee was set constituted by the late Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa 18 months ago. Apart from identifying the causes of conflicts in the state, the committee made recommendations to each of them which it claimed would bring lasting peace in the state.

Speaking while receiving the committee's report at the Government House, Governor Yero said more that if about 50 per cent of the recommendations are implemented, peace would return to the state.

According to Governor Yero, "I will like to assure you that we will do our best considering the political nature of the state and all other things.

We will look at it and see how we can implement them. We will take our time to study it and implement them gradually. The governor, who expressed satisfaction to the committee's work, urged citizens of the state to forget the past and embrace peace.

Earlier, co-chairmen of the committee, Air Vice Marshal Ishaya Shekari (rtd) and Alhaji Abbas Dabo Sambo, while presenting the report, appealed to the state government to ensure implementation of the committee's report in order to find peaceful coexistence among the people of the state. The committee urged the state's government to "to resist pressures from vested interests and institute a peace process anchored on justice, equity and fairness."

The committee also recommended the creation of peace and reconciliation commission in the state.
