18 people were injured in an explosion which rocked Bir al-Abed, one of the most busiest streets in Beirut's southern suburb this morning .
It was believed that the explosion was targeted at Hezbollah groups southern stronghold.
Unconfirmed reports claim that the blast came from a car bomb.
Reports said it was the first bombing in the suburb since the recent attempted assassination on Islamic cleric Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah which killed more than 80 people and injured 200 others.
Prime Minister Saad Hariri condemned the incident.
"We ask God Almighty to bless the wounded to safety and wellness", he was quoted as saying.
