President Goodluck Jonathan on friday flagged off the reconstruction and expansion work on lagos ibadan dual carriageway which was awarded to Julius Berger and RCC construction companies after a competitive bidding. The road was concessioned to Bi Courtney in 2006 but no work was done on the road leading to its revocation by Minister of Works, Arc Mike Onolememen depsite tight political undercurrents to undermine it relevance to the people of Nigeria. The Minister's bold decision was hailed by Nigerians because previous ministers had turned a blind eye on the non-challant attitude of the concessioniare. the road connects the nation's major sea ports in lagos with some states in the western part of nigeria and the entire northern region. it was first constructed in 1978 and has never been reconstruted nor had a major overhaul.
