Political leaders in Ogun West Senatorial District have denied endorsing the Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, governorship candidate in the 2011 election, Mr. Gboyega Isiaka, as the zone flag bearer in the 2015 election.
The leaders described the purported endorsement as a misrepresentation of the mission of the leaders to the referred meeting. A section of the media had on Sunday reported the endorsement.
But speaking with newsmen in Lagos yesterday, a former Commissioner for Works, Chief Waliu Taiwo, noted that he and other leaders present at the parley organised by Isiaka at Imeko, never adopted, read or signed any communiqué.
Taiwo said: "I was surprised to hear that we read and signed a communiqué after last Sunday's meeting at Imeko. The truth of the matter is that there was nothing like a communiqué talk less of any form of endorsement."
Reiterating the commitment of the leaders of the zone to present a credible candidate that would be acceptable and supported by all in 2015, the former commissioner noted that the zone is more organised than before and would definitely has its flagbearer as Ogun governor in 2015.
In a related development, the League of Ogun West Professionals has described the report of the purported endorsement as "mischievous and an affront on the good intention of the zone."
