The Labour Party in Ogun State on Wednesday declared that it had zoned its ticket for the 2015 governorship election to Ogun West Senatorial District .
It said this would enable the Yewa/Awori people of the zone to realise their ambition of producing the governor of the state for the first time since the state was created 37 years ago.
The LP State Secretary, Sunday Oginni, at a media briefing in Ilaro, said the party was ready to compensate the people of Ogun West over the alleged marginalisation they had suffered in the scheme of things in the state.
Oginni, flanked at the briefing by the LP State Chairman, Olabode Simeon; a leader of the party in Ogun-West, Segun Adewale, and the zone's Women Leader, Basirat Raji, added that the people of the zone had the legitimate right to have one of their kinsmen as the state chief executive.
He stressed that the LP would use its principle of equal opportunity to assuage the age-long suffering of the Yewa/Awori people in the 2015 gubernatorial race.
The LP chief stated that Ogun West which is the gateway to Nigeria had the human and material resources to produce the governor of the state in the forthcoming gubernatorial poll.
He said, "Labour Party leaders in our own wisdom have now decided that we are coming to present to the Ogun State people the case note of the Ogun-West; that it is the time for Ogun-West people to assume leadership in Ogun State and the reason for this is why this conference is being called.
"We want to call for the understanding of every right thinking Ogun State person to reason along with the LP on the need to correct this anomaly. It is not out of place and it's a genuine demand for Ogun-West to produce the next governor of Ogun State come 2015."
Oginni added that LP would provide a level-playing field for all aspirants, stressing that no godfather would be allowed to impose candidates on the electorate from the zone.
