Labour Party, LP, yesterday disclosed that it had zoned its governorship ticket in Ogun State to Ogun West Senatorial District to enable the people realise their dream of producing governor for the first time.
The state LP Secretary, Comrade Sunday Oginni, disclosed this at a media parley organised by political leaders of the zone.
Oginni said at the meeting, which was also attended by the state Chairman of party, Comrade Bode Simeon, that LP was ready to assuage the people of Ogun West in their cry against marginalisation.
The secretary added that LP was ready to employ the principle of equal opportunity to correct the wrong done to the people of Yewa/Awori come 2015.
He said: "Labour Party leaders, in our own wisdom, have now decided that we are coming to present to the Ogun State people, the case note of the Ogun West that it is the time for Ogun West people to assume leadership in Ogun State and the reason for this is why this conference is being called.
"We want to call for the understanding of every right thinking Ogun State person to reason along with the Labour Party, join Labour Party and for once correct this anomaly. It is not out of place and it's a genuine demand for Ogun West to produce the next governor of Ogun State come 2015."
Oginni also said that the party was ready to give every aspirant a level playing field as no godfather would impose candidate on the electorate from the zone.
Fielding questions from journalists, the party chairman denied the rumour that former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, had been the financier of the party.
Simeon also denied the rumour that LP had issued automatic senatorial ticket to Daniel, adding that the former governor was not a card-carrying member of the party.
