Auditor-General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Samuel Ukura, has disowned the clearance certificates purportedly issued to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) by some Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The AGF said the certificates never emanated from him and described them as fake and illegal.
Ukura spoke before the Hon. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola-led House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts which invited him over some questionable clearance certificates issued to the police on queries raised against them.
He said if a query had been raised against any ministry, agency or an organisation and the query had been laid before the National Assembly and later come up with additional and convincing documentation, then the AGF would personally write to the National Assembly attaching such additional information to apply for the clearance of such a query.
