Title: Rivers Crisis: No Hand In Mayhem Wike
Post by: Shola Sholaz on Jul 11, 2013, 11:38 PM
As the political crisis in Rivers State escalates, one of the key political actors in the state's chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Nyesom Wike, has denied any involvement in the conflict.
.
Wike, who is the Minister of State for Education, told Vanguard that the crisis should not be blamed on him, as he was busy doing his assignment in Abuja.
.
The denial by Wike came in the wake of report that the controversial Rivers Police Commissioner, Mr. Joseph Mbu, had been summoned by the police high command to Abuja to explain his role in the unfolding political crisis in the state.
.
A source close to the command in Rivers State hinted that Mbu got the summon to report in Abuja on Wednesday, a few hours after some policemen stormed the Rivers Government House and opened canisters of teargas that injured some persons there.
