The number of dead people in the recent Chinese landslides and floods has risen to more than 40.
Eighteen people were killed in a landslide in the south-western province of Sichuan, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday.
Dozens remain missing and a search and rescue operation is underway.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs said about two million people are affected by torrential rain, which caused heavy damage in 16 provinces.
