It was a bloody 'Rag Day' for students of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, ACOED, Ijanikin, Lagos as two of the mates died in an accident at Cele bus stop on the Mile 2 – Badagry Expressway.

One of the deceased, a final year student of Physical and Health Education, was simply identified as Michael.

The deceased were among some of the students who went out for the yearly 'Rag Day' to generate funds for the less privileged members of the society.

The victims fell from a moving commercial bus, which was trying to dodge a pothole in the middle of the road. They were reportedly crushed to death by another vehicle.

They were rushed to Ore Ofe Hospital where they were confirmed dead.

The incident, which sparked off a protest by students of the institution, who blocked the road.

A former president of the institution's students union, who identified himself as Authority, said their anger was borne out of the fact that the drivers of the two vehicles did not wait after the incident.

Some of the commercial vehicles caught in the protest were seized and driven to the campus, while others, particularly the ones used by smugglers, had their glasses shattered by the irate students.

It took the intervention of the policemen from Ijanikin Police Station and the school authorities to persuade the students to end the protest.
