The National Working Committee of the Progressive Peoples Alliance on Thursday said the party's new name – the All Progressive Peoples Alliance – and logo have received the blessing of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In a statement by the party, the National Chairman of PPA, Ambassador Sam Nkire, said the change of the party's name and logo was done to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians, adding that the rebranding of the party's offices and apparatus had commenced.
Nkire noted that the party's logo, denoted by conjoined hands, was in alignment with its motto – posterity to the people.
He said, "PPA remains the only party that believes in togetherness and oneness built on the tenets of justice, fairness and equity. As a dynamic political party, there was a conscious need to review our strategies ahead of forthcoming elections."
Nkire stated that the recently concluded ward tour of the party yielded unprecedented positive results from across the country, with members of other political parties defecting to the party.
He noted that the erstwhile Imo State Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, Dr. Vitalis Ajumgbe, who defected to the PPA with his followers, was appointed as the new National Publicity Secretary of the party at the just-concluded special convention of the party.
Nkire decried the level of unemployment in the country as he called on all and sundry to vote massively for PPA candidates in 2015 for the restoration of the lost glory of Nigeria.
