Title: Secretariat attack
Post by: Punch on Jul 20, 2013, 05:31 PM
The Action Congress of Nigeria in Ekiti State has tasked the police in the state to investigate the attack on some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party by some hoodlums allegedly hired by a governorship aspirant of the party.

The hoodlums injured a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Kola Adefemi, PDP Auditor in the state, Mr. Olanrewaju Olatunji and two journalists.

The ACN, in a statement issued by its Director of Publicity, Mr. Segun Dipe, berated the opposition party for engaging in violence to settle the problem of governorship candidates' selection.

The party listed victims of violent attacks resulting from PDP intra-party crisis as; former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Taiwo Olatunbosun, injured during a PDP congress and Ayo Jeje, who was killed at Erijiyan Ekiti.

The ruling party accused the opposition party of planning to return the state to anarchy, but said that the people of the state and the government would not allow this to happen.

But the Media Aide to the suspended Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Femi Omolusi, described the ACN's comment as hypocritical. He stated that the ACN was responsible for the killing of Jeje and had even unleashed terror on some of its members, including Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele.
