Summary of Responsibilities: To provide specialist rotating equipment input to conceptual studies and detailed design for oil & gas developments.
Details of Responsibilities:
• Conducts performance evaluations, takes corrective action as necessary, recommends promotions and salary actions, and recommends training and development for assigned personnel.
• Helps to define discipline design organization and participation on a project, including scope of work, design criteria, schedules, standards, and procedures.
• Determines budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
• Provides technical direction, making decisions and/or obtaining additional technical staff assistance as the situation warrants. This may include obtaining the services of consultants.
• Promotes technical excellence on the project, including furthering the Quality Improvement Process.
• Ensures that adequate checking is performed in accordance with discipline checking policy and procedures.
• Ensures that discipline design work is coordinated with project staff and Engineers from other disciplines by maintaining clear and frequent communications.
• Advises engineering and project management regarding any problem areas, staffing requirements, delays in production, scope changes, or other events, which could effect project completion and/or profitability.
• Initiates and/or reviews change order requests for additions, deletions, or changes to the original scope of work.
• Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
• Supervises the production of project drawings and design calculations, Recommends and prepares technical papers, Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate in
• Recommends design methods, equipment use, etc., for discipline standards.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical engineering or related field
Required Skills & Experience:
Job Specific Knowledge:
• Hands on experience with large gas turbine driven compressors, pumps, generators is mandatory.
• Experience with the development of layouts for new facilities
• Experienced in the specification for, evaluation of and documentation of rotating equipment packages
• Vendor document review and co-ordination with the other disciplines
• Work is performed in accordance with broad technical guidelines and with minimal supervision.
• Preparation of specifications for, and evaluation of, rotating equipment packages. Perform engineering design
• Duties will include rotating equipment selection and specification, detail design in collaboration with client and vendors and bid evaluation/ vendor document review and approval.
• Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Oil & Gas Business Unit
• Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the Oil & Gas Business Unit. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritisation of work to achieve them
Industry Specific Experience: 8 – 10 years industry specific experience.
HSE Capability: Commitment to safe working practices and ability to promote safety consciousness within the department
IT Skills:
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Proficiency in use ETAP or SKM Power Tool software.
• Knowledge of CAD
People Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop effective business relationships, good communication skills, team management and development skills, collaborative leadership style, coaching and facilitation skills, interdepartmental team relationships
Other Requiremements:
• Limited travel required
• Work require liaising with other disciplines to develop design
