Title: CPC urges EFCC to probe Bankole

The Congress for Progressive Change on Monday called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the fresh allegations of financial impropriety levelled against the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole.

The party urged the EFCC to treat the allegations with the required dispatch now that Bankole would soon be out of office.

CPC's National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, urged the EFCC not to be selective in the manner it handled the case because the amount involved was stricking for an outgoing public officer.

"We hope that this shall not be treated as the normal 'family affair' because Nigerians' commonwealth should not be traced to private pockets," Fashakin said.

Bankole is billed to appear before the EFCC as part of investigations into the N10bn loan fraud in the House of Representatives.

The Speaker would also face a five-man panel of special investigators probing an alleged N2.3bn car scam in the House.
