Commander of the Special Task Force in Jos, Maj.-Gen. Henry Ayoola, has admonished the people of Southern Senatorial Zone of Plateau State not to allow religion, ethnicity and tribal sentiments to tear them apart.
Hundreds of people have been killed in the last six months in the raging feud between Taroh people and Fulani herdsmen in the zone, which comprises six local government areas - Shendam, Langtang North, Langtang South, Mikang, Qua'an Pan and Wase.
Ayoola, at a peace parley with stakeholders in Shendam on Monday, expressed dismay that the people had allowed irrelevant issues to take over the bond of brotherhood that had existed among them for a long time.
He said, "The Peace parley is as a result of the security challenges in the areas. But religion, ethnicity, tribe and other challenges which are irrelevant have been used deliberately by our detractors to divide us and we must collectively resist it from today."
The Punch
Peace has to reign all the time in this country for it to be a better place. All this crime and wars must change once and for all.
