The present administration in Ogun State has concluded arrangements to commence work on the construction of Sango – Agbado – Akute road which is billed to gulp about N59 billion come September 2013. The State Governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun made this known while briefing members of the Press during breaking of (Ramadan) fast at the Government House, Abeokuta. Sen. Amosun said his administration being responsible and responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of the electorate would ensure even development of all parts of the State, reassuring his administration’s commitment to better the lives of the people.
The governor who observed that development work was still in progress said that the State in the next two years would be fully transformed, as his dream was to leave an enduring legacy that would outlive his administration, just like the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. He enjoined members of the fourth estate of the realm to key into his administration’s re-building agenda through factual and objective reportage of events.
“I am not asking you to tell the people lie about my government, rather, be truthful and factual in all that my administration stands for”, he emphasised. Earlier in his welcome address, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Yusuph Olaniyonu, implored the journalists to uphold the sanctity of the noble profession which gives room for fairness, facts, accuracy and objectivity during reportage of events and should also see themselves as partners in progress. Responding on behalf of the journalists, the Chairman, State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Wole Sokunbi, commended the present administration in its resolve in transforming the State, assuring that the Union would continue to support the government through adequate coverage and reportage of government policies and programmes.
