Edo State Government, Wednesday, described as spurious, a report that the state governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole has signed the death warrants of two more death row prisoners, saying that it was another attempt by mischief makers to rubbish the image of the governor.
.
The government in a statement said that the misleading report appeared on the scroll bar of the 7:00pm Prime News of Tuesday, July 23, 2013, of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Benin Network Centre to the effect that Governor Oshiomhole, had signed the death warrants of two more prisoners on death row in the state.
.
"We wish to inform the general public that the governor, did not sign such death warrants and that the news item is false in its entirety. We advise the general public to ignore the said news item as it is the figment of the imagination of the authors intended to cause disaffection against the governor and Government of Edo State.
Whoever gets a death sentence must be someone that has committed a very huge crime. Nigeria doesn't joke with terrible crimes.
