It was a colourful opening ceremony on Wednesday in Warri at Brown Hill Event Centre as Commonwealth champion Joe Agbonivbare of Edo State lost to Delta State's Soso Tamara in the 96kg of the ongoing E.K Clark Wrestling Championship.

According to Sir Ohaike Damian who is the Technical Director of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, the defeat of Joe is an eye opener to others which shows that the championship has provided the space for others to showcase their talents.

The guest of honour, Chief E K Clark, thanked the organisers of the competition, saying he has to travel down from USA because of the event; while the chairman of Delta State Sports Commission Amaju Pinnick says the state will continue to do its best for sports.

"We are happy hosting this wrestling championship.
It shows our love for sports," he enthused.
