Title: “Agreement with ASUU can’t be implemented says govt”; Labour Ministry refutes Media reports.
Post by: FMINigeria on Jul 25, 2013, 11:31 PM
A statement signed by the Head of Press of Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Mr. Samuel Olowookere has refuted some media reports which quoted the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu as saying that Government has repudiated the agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) because it cannot pay. The statement reads as follows:

"The attention of the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu, has been drawn to the misleading headline in The Guardian and Nigerian Tribune newspapers of 24th July, 2013 which reads "Agreement with ASUU can't be implemented, says govt".

"It is pertinent to set the record straight. The Minister while responding to questions from journalist did not make such a statement, but rather, Wogu used the occasion to appeal to ASSU to return to class while negotiation continues"; Olowookere said.
