Signing of the MoU came up at the Conference Room of the World Bank Assisted Project (WAAPP-Nigeria) in Abuja.

According to the National Project Coordinator, WAAPP, Prof. Damian O. Chikwendu, the MoU will not only enable implementation of all activities relating to pesticide registration, regulation and use as per the mandate of the Federal Ministry of Environment and NESREA, but also help in the realization of the domestication and implementation of ECOWAS regulations guidelines and policies on pesticides.

Such Cooperation, the Coordinator added, shall be implemented through the mechanism of the establishment of mutual relation between WAAPP-Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Environment and NESREA, with WAAPP-Nigeria supporting the organizations with such assistance (Cash and/or Kind) required for the effective running of the activities.

The MoUs were signed by the National Project Coordinator, Prof. Damian O. Chikwendu, on behalf of WAAPP-Nigeria, Mrs. Olufunke Olubunmi Babade on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Environment and by Mrs. Ronke Soyombo on behalf of NESREA.
