Paul Hamilton, a former coach of the Super Falcons, on Thursday endorsed Coach Egan Edet of the Pelican Stars of Calabar, ahead of the selection of a new coach for the Super Falcons.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Edet and Edwin Okon who were former coaches of the Falconets, were top candidates contending for the senior national women's team job.

Hamilton said he has no doubt in the coaching abilities of Edet because of his antecedents in the Pelican Stars.

"Edet will be an excellent choice; I have no doubt of his coaching abilities. He has been down that road before, and I am sure he knows what to do and how to go about it.

"First, looking at his achievements, he has a good record with the U-20 side and the Falconets. He has led them to the finals in 2010, so I see him doing well, if appointed,'' he said.

Hamilton added that Edet has an idea of what was expected and believes he can fit in perfectly well.

"He has played for the defunct Green Eagles, he knows what will be expected from him so, it will be a fantastic choice,'' he said.

NAN recalls that Edet led the U-20 national side to the final of the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women World Cup in Germany.

The Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday met in Abuja to decide on the appointment of a new coach for the Falcons.

The appointment was expected to be announced ahead of a two-leg friendly match against Japan, both in September, in two Japanese cities of Isahaya and Chiba.

NAN gathered it was likely that the duo may be appointed as coaches of the Falcons, since the federation believes in retaining coaches who had excelled in their previous jobs at both club and national team levels.
Falcons are really good at what they do to so I utmostly respect them for a job well done...They've won trophies b4 and they deserved it.
