Argentina skipper, Pablo Zabaleta and his Nigerian counterpart, Joseph Yobo, were involved in war of words on Tuesday ahead of today's match holding at the National Stadium in Abuja.
Zabaleta said the team was conscious of the physical strength of the Super Eagles and would counter it on the pitch.
He stressed that the match would be a tough one for both sides because of the quality of players on parade.
The Manchester City defender said, "We expect a very good game. Nigerian players are very strong and we are aware we have to deal with that.
"It will be interesting because many of us are coming here for the first time. We know some of the players and that makes the encounter dicey especially because we are preparing for Copa America while Nigeria is also preparing for a match.'
Yobo however said that he was ready for a tough battle with revenge at the back of his mind.
He said, "I have played twice against Argentina and we lost the two games. This time we have a good opportunity to win on home soil.
"We have a good team that can win here in Abuja. We lost narrowly last year at the World Cup. This match is important for us to be fully fit for the Ethiopia game."
Argentina coach, Sergio Batista, was furious when he was told that he did not bring a strong team to Nigeria.
"I am here with the national team of Argentina and we are going to play well to win. We shall see whether the team is strong or not," he said.
Nigeria coach, Samson Siasia, said he would field a solid team that would not disappoint Nigerians.
All the invited players turned up for Nigeria except Yusuf Mohammed who has been replaced by Gege Toriola of Kano Pillars.
Nigeria, Argentina match starts at 7pm.
