Following its victory over Apple in a major e-book antitrust c (http://readwrite.com/2013/07/10/judge-apple-conspired-to-price-fix-ebooks)ase, the Justice Department has asked a federal judge to force the tech company to allow links to rival e-book prices and storefronts (http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/2013/August/13-at-877.html) in, say, Amazon or Barnes & Noble iOS apps. Apple currently forbids such links, which could let users click away to make purchases that wouldn't return a cut to the iPhone maker.

Apple called the federal request a "draconian and punitive intrusion into Apple's business (http://allthingsd.com/20130802/apple-slams-feds-proposed-e-book-remedies-as-a-draconian-and-punitive-intrusion/?mod=tweet)." If approved, the requirement would stand for two years.
