Mustapha Kebbeh is the new Gambia Football Association president.
.
The development worker was elected on Wednesday as he registered 30 votes compared to his opponent Momodou Musa who walked away with 21 votes.
.
The process was done by Fifa normalization committee that was installed to fix the crisis after the federation was dissolved by the government.
.
In order to avoid an imminent ban the committee was drafted and the country allowed to feature in football activities.
.
Other officials elected included Buba Janneh as his first Vice President, Kebba Touray as second Vice President and Basiru Darboe as third Vice President.
.
Former Gambia diplomat Sidi Sanneh congratulated the victors in the contest through a statement.
.
"Mustapha Kebbeh and Buba Star Janneh have trounced their respective opponents in the just concluded Gambia Football Association's elections.
.
We congratulate the winners."
.
"The stellar reputations of all the banned members of the Federation must be restored. The people who have opposed the action of the Normalization Committee have been vindicated by the footballers, supporters and owners of the Football Clubs from Banjul to Basse in a resounding and public fashion by voting in all of those candidates who were opposed by the opponents of change. Let a new generation of Gambians lead the game while the old guard retire gracefully."
Their football is not doing very well right about now because I don't remember when last they qualified for AFCON...That has to change!
