Title: PDP generates N286m from Anambra gov forms sale
Post by: Punch on Aug 06, 2013, 03:31 PM
THE Peoples Democratic Party on Monday generated about N286m fromĀ  the sale of forms to aspirants for the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State.

There are about 26 governorship aspirants from the party in the state and each of them paid N10m as nomination fee.

The nomination fee is aside the N1m the party charged for the picking of Expression of Interest form, which was paid by all the aspirants.

For the first time, the party hiked the fee for the nomination form from N5m to N10m for men while women, who used to pick the form free paid N5m.

Some of the party officers were seen at the party's national headquarters in Abuja on Monday rejoicing as aspirants reported to submit their forms.

Some jokingly said, "Ojanta", which literally mean that "market is booming."

One of the governorship aspirants, Mr. Sylvester Okonkwo, said he had paid the new fee.

Okonkwo said though the fee was high, it would deepen democracy in the state, but appealed to the party not to collect money from female aspirants.

He said, "We were however promised by the PDP leadership that if Anambra governorship aspirants pay N10m and N5m for nominations form, all aspirants on PDP platform would henceforth pay same.''

Among those, who have picked their forms are Alexander Obiogbolu, Jerry Ugokwe, Walter Okeke, Charles Odunukwe, Chuba Ikpeazu, Eucharia Azodo, Donatus Okonkwo, Chuwuka Onyema, Onyenisi Obianuju, Kramer Ifunayachukwu, Adimachukwu Calista and Chinyere Udemba.

Others are Senator Andy Uba, former minister of Women Affairs Mrs. Josephine Anenih; a former member of the House of Representatives, Nicholas Ukachukwu and Tony Nwoye.

That's really a lot of money for the political party...I must really commend them for a job well done in that aspect. Makes sense.
