The management of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, has announced that it has commenced the implementation of the Credited Advance Payment for Metering Implementation, CAPMI, policy.
National Mirror gathered that the scheme is designed to make meters available to customers across the four states of Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti respectively from August 5, 2013.
A statement from the Public Affairs Department of the BEDC that was made available to our correspondent in Benin City by Mr. Babatunde Fadipe assured customers that the scheme was designed to meet the expectations of customers.
It stated; "Under the CAPMI scheme, customers are expected to pay in advance for the purchase and installation of meters in their premises, which will later be refunded through a rebate on the monthly fixed charge component of their electricity bill over a period of time. This rebate covers the meter and installation costs only.
"Customised payment tellers have been made available at all district offices across the four states covered by BEDC to make payments easier for all customers.
While assuring customers of the readiness of the company to meet customer's expectations, the release added that customers would be metered within 45- days of receipt of payment."
