Title: Lisandro Heads For Lyon Exit
Post by: Folami David on Aug 10, 2013, 01:33 AM
Lyon's Argentine striker Lisandro Lopez is set to join Qatari outfit Al-Gharafa, according to a statement released by the French club.
.
"OL inform they have accepted the demand made to club president Jean-Michel Aulas at the end of May, then again in July, by Lisandro Lopez to leave the club for personal reasons during the current transfer period," read a statement posted on Lyon's website.
.
"Lisandro was therefore allowed to go to Qatar last night (Wednesday) where he will finalise the terms over a potential contract with Al-Gharafa," it added.
.
The 30-year-old has scored 82 goals in 167 games for Lyon since his arrival from Porto in 2009.
.
Lisandro's departure could prompt Lyon to reintegrate want-away striker Bafetimbi Gomis into the first-team squad after negotiations with Premier League side Newcastle broke down.
.
"It's a possibility to which I would not be opposed," said Lyon boss Remi Garde to the idea of Gomis, who has one year left on his contract, remaining at Stade Gerland.
.
Former Atletico Madrid and Galatasaray defender Tomas Ujfalusi has signed a one-year deal with Sparta Prague, the Czech club said on its website.
.
The 35-year-old, who won the Europa League with Atletico Madrid in 2010, last played for Galatasaray but has been sidelined with a knee injury since last August. Also formerly of Hamburg and Fiorentina, Ujfalusi made 78 appearances for the Czech national team before ending his international career in 2009.
.
Algerian striker Islam Slimani has joined Sporting Lisbon from Belouizdad on a four-yeal deal for an undisclosed fee, the Portuguese club announced.
.
The 25-year-old, who scored 32 goals in 96 appearances for the Algiers-based club, had also been in advanced talks with Nantes following the eight-time French champions' return to the top flight.
.
Slimani has been capped 12 times for Algeria, scoring 10 times.
