The Katsina State Government is to spend N1.4 billion for the tarring of the Kankara-Ketare-Gora-Malumfashi road.
In a statement by the Special Assistant to the governor on press affairs, Abdulhamid Danjuma, the road project has a nine- month completion period.
Danjuma said other contents of the project include construction of shoulder on each side of the road and filling the potholes among others.
He said the road was being tarred due to its strategic importance, as it links Katsina with neighboring Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kano states.
He said that the government is to supply water and electricity to the male hostel of the Umaru Musa Yar' Adua University for N58.9 million.
Danjuma said another contract for N131.9 million has been awarded for the supply of furniture and beds in the male hostels at the University, even as the government had approved contract of N104.3 million for the supply of chemicals for water treatment
