The Nigeria Police Force has begun administering its own pension scheme with a promise to tackle all issues associated with its administration in the past.
Declaring open a threeday workshop for Capacity and Human Resources Training for Police Pension Desk Officers in Abuja, Inspector- General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, said a good pension fund administration remained critical to the existence of the Force, promising to ensure that officers and men get their dues at retirement.
Explaining his difficulty in getting the Force to administer its own pension just like the military and the State Security Service (SSS), Abubakar said since the police had now taken its destiny in their own hands, they could not afford to fail.
He recalled that managing police pension had become cumbersome leading to the frustration experienced by most retired police officers.
