The governor said that the choice of the theme for the programme tagged “fulfilling the right of children, our responsibility” was in line with the policy of the State government which was in favour of mother and child care, putting into consideration the five cardinal programme of the State through universal primary Health care, across the 20 local government areas.
“This programme is a unique opportunity for all stakeholders to come together in a bid to protect the right of the Nigerian child. Our administration has made affordable qualitative education and efficient healthcare delivery top priorities with the aim of achieving universal primary and affordable education, significantly improving maternal health and drastically reducing child mortality rates across the 20 Local Government areas of our State”, the Governor said.
In his address, Secretary to the State Government, Barr, Taiwo Adeoluwa, said the present administration was committed towards providing needed support and foundation on which the future of the Nigerian Child could be laid, adding that priority of the State government was to uplift the development of the children, improve health infrastructure and reduce child mortality rate among others.
He said the programme would create a platform to better the future of the children, pointing out that the law to protect child right had passed through the second reading in the State House of Assembly.
