Our client: Adexen Recruitment Agency is looking to recruit a Fleet Manager for a large International Industrial Company for its Nigerian Operations.
Job description: – The Fleet Manager will report directly to the Supply chain manager of the Company. The Fleet Manager's main mission to optimise and manage the fleet of trucks owned by the group in the Country as well as manage third party suppliers. This represents a fleet of more than 1000 trucks. – The position is based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Responsibilities:
The Fleet Manager will have as principal responsibilities:
Operations, Cost, finance & legal;
• Establish and coordinate the main trucking plan for Nigeria.
• Contributes to the definition and management of the budgets.
• Support selection and management of third party suppliers.
• Negotiation of the freight rates and contractual framework with third party suppliers.
• Set up monitoring systems (costs per kilometer/ per vehicle/ per route) + tracking system.
• Define all delivery routes and dispatch logics across the country to optimize costs and efficiency.
HSE & Road safety;
• Set up a very strong Road safety policy.
• Develop with the teams and the supplier procedure manuals and handbooks.
• Set up evaluation policies and trainings for all drivers.
• Management of disciplinary.
• Constant overview and audits.
Material, equipment& supports;
• Ensure maximum availability of all equipment internally and among third party suppliers.
• Ensures that all maintenance plans are followed and that kpi's are in place.
• Ensure high standards in maintenance and preparation of the fleet. (> 1000 vehicles mostly Trucks).
• Coordination with purchasing departments and optimization of all partners and suppliers.
Definition of maintenance procedures / consolidation of purchases / supply chain of spare parts.
Qualifications and experience:
• Expert in fleet management of large fleets
• Experience of managing third party suppliers
• Experience of setting up Road safety and HSE procedures
• Minimum experience of 10 years
• Capacity to communicate and work at all levels
• Real knowledge of maintenance procedures and management of very large fleets of mechanical equipment
• Multiple-site management.
• Capacity to analyze and implement operational improvement of processes.
• Knowledge of Setting up control and management tools as well as finance.
• The candidate must speak English.
• African experience is a real plus
