JOB OUTLINE: Overall control of machine shop and CNC Rottler machine operations
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain all equipment as required to support operation.
• Assist in maintaining equipment maintenance record.
• Maintain a clean and safe shop/plant/work environment.
• Participate in the plant's preventive maintenance program by performing routine maintenance duties, including the collection of trending information
• Keep track of spare parts as they are used and complete a usage report in order to replace items as necessary. Assist in physical inventories.
• Assemble, disassemble, repair and adjust all types of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Ensure right first time service interventions
• Travel to and from customers' sites to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair of electrical generator systems and related engine failures, and utility transfer switches and switchgears
• Travel to and from customers' sites to perform Planned Maintenance Agreement services and inspections
• Travel to and from customers' sites to perform/assist with Start-up and new genset commissioning.
• Read, understand and apply electrical diagrams/schematics
• Actively work to enhance overall effectiveness of Aftermarket operations team, to include as and when required technical support/development of other operational personnel
• Timely and accurate compliance to all associated administrative requirements as identified for service personnel
• Actively work to foster close working relationships with customers and to resolve all customer issues in a timely and professional manner
• Ensure compliance with Cummins and local in country Environmental Health and safety legislation
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Prefer minimum three years power generation (gas gensets) and engine repair experience
• Completion of a vocational training program in a related field
• Comprehensive understanding of electricity, electrical controls, generator sets and power distribution including safe operation
• Engine diagnosis and troubleshooting aptitude on diesel and natural gas powered engines
• Demonstrate troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
• Ability to read instructions and communicate effectively, both written and verbal communications
• Organizational skills necessary to maintain an inventory of power generation repair parts, supplies and literature
• Excellent customer support skills
• Ability to use a laptop computer and related computer programs
• Ability to operate computers and utilize them for diagnostics and repair
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
• Must have own hand tools
Physical Abilities:
• Ability to lift 25-100lbs and use proper lifting tools and techniques
• Bending, stretching, standing, kneeling, twisting and climbing on equipment throughout work
• Wear safety equipment at all times and perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner
