A group canvassing for a second term tenure for Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has described his achievements in the last two years as unprecedented in the state.
The General Secretary of the group, known as "Iroko 2013 Platform", Mr. Niran Onisile, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Akure, the state capital, on Sunday.
He said the only former governor that could be compared to Mimiko in terms of performance was the late Adekunle Ajasin, the second republic governor of the state from 1979 to 1983.
Mimiko, he said, had done a lot to guarantee peace and security in the state as well as executed more than 300 developmental projects.
The projects included the Gani Fawehinmi Diagnostic Centre, the 'Abiye' health programme, and the 'Mother and Child Hospital', which, he said, had been recognised by the UN as second to none in Africa.
He said Mimiko had also touched the lives of a majority of the people through micro-credit facilities for market women and the establishment of 'Mega Schools' with adequate facilities.
"These are the weapons with which we are going to sensitise the people to encourage Mimiko to go for a second term,'' Onisile said.
According to him, the group has coordinators and members in the 18 local government areas working for the realisation of Mimiko's second term.
