Title: Accord Party accuses Ajimobi of threatening Ladoja’s life

The Oyo State chapter of the Accord Party (AP) yesterday alleged threat to the life of its leader, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.

The party, in a statement made available to journalists by its spokesman, Mr. Lanre Latinwo, accused the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of threatening Ladoja's life.

According to Latinwo, Ajimobi threatened Ladoja's life last Sunday when he said if the "former governor is removed, there will be no more Accord Party in Oyo State."

He said Ajimobi made the threat during an interview aired by a private television station in Lagos.

Latinwo, however, called for a thorough investigation into the statement.

He said: "The governor, who spoke to journalists after the newly registered All Progressives Congress (APC) rally at Mapo, said that there is no other party in the state. He said there is no Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and that if Ladoja is removed, there would be no party called Accord.

"Accord Party is worried because there may be sinister moves aimed at attacking its members. We, therefore, call on higher authorities to prevail on the governor to explain what he meant by his words.

"Ajimobi should be asked why he is interested in removing Ladoja from the Accord Party? I hope the governor is aware that Ladoja is not somebody that could be pushed around neither could his conscience be bought over through pot of porridge."
