Nigeria's Men's Basketball team, D' Tigers will today fly out to Abidjan, Cote d' Ivoire to challenge for honours in the Afrobasket 2013 Championship.

D'Tigers who will play their opening game on August 20th, will be bided farewell by the Minister in Abuja, while the nation hopes for a successful championship.

D' Tigres had earlier trained in Abuja and Los Angeles, USA, before participating in the Stankvic Tournament in China, where they finished third. ``D` Tigers will arrive in Lagos from Orlando, Florida on Saturday morning aboard the Virgin Atlantic flight at 5.30am and thereafter fly to Abuja aboard Medview Airlines for a brief reception to be hosted by the NBBF. The Minister will formally bid the team and staff farewell for a successful championship in Cote d'Ivoire," Patrick Omorodion, spokesperson of the Nigeria Basketball Federation said in a release on Friday.

The team will vie for honours against the likes of Angola, Tunisia, Senegal, Cameroun, and hosts, Cote d' Ivoire.

According to the statement, the team will be led by Head Coach, Ayodele Bakare, who will be assisted by Sani Ahmed, Ayinla Johnson, Ogoh Odaudu and Abdulrahman Mohammed.

The players include: Abdulwahab Aminu, Alfarouk Aminu, Andy Obinna Ogude, Ben Chukwukelo Uzoh, Chamberlain Nnaemeka Oguchi and Gani Oladimeji Lawal.Others are: Ike Diogu, Jamaal Olasewere, Olumide Oyedeji, Richard Chukwuma Oruche, Stanley Gumut and Chukwuemeka Okoye.
I just love and cherish their co-ordination in the court when they play basketball. They're very good so I must commend them!
