Super Eagles skipper, Joseph Yobo, has assured that Nigeria will book a ticket to next year's African Nations Cup holding in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
Nigeria is walking a tightrope in the qualifiers for the event after recording a 2-2 draw against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa on Sunday. The Eagles are three points behind Syli Nationale of Guinea which recorded an emphatic 4-1 win against Madagascar in Conakry.
Yobo told our correspondent on the telephone on Monday that all hopes were not lost on winning the sole ticket in Group B.
The Fernabahce of Turkey defender said the players gave their best against Ethiopia but it was unfortunate that only one point was earned in the encounter.
He said, "We went there for a win but the Ethiopians were also very determined to achieve the same feat. There were logistic issues here and there especially the bad pitch but more importantly we are still in the race.
"Our faith is still in our hands if we can win our last two games well. That is the situation we find ourselves and we are up to the task to win the ticket. It is going to be tough but we will do it."
Incidentally, Yobo got the vital equaliser for in the match. He levelled up via a header just five minutes to the end of the game.
"It was great. I am happy we at least got a result to keep us in. I would have loved that to be the winning goal for us. We need more work but I want to assure Nigerians that we are going to win the ticket in our group," Yobo added.
Nigeria's next match is against Madagascar on September 4 in Abuja.
