(http://readwrite.com/files/fields/Ubuntu%20Edge.jpg)   Despite intense interest from the geek set, Canonical's Ubuntu Edge Indiegogo campaign (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ubuntu-edge) still fell short of its ambitious $32 million funding goal (http://readwrite.com/2013/07/22/canonical-wants-you-to-pay-for-the-bill-to-develop-its-ubuntu-edge-smartphone). In fact, project to build a dual-booting, open-source smartphone ended late last night at less than half its goal, with $12.8 million pledged from 27,000 backers (http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57599662-94/ubuntu-edge-misses-target-by-$19m-margin/). While impressive, that wasn't even close to the sum needed to greenlight the project.
