Owen Coyle wants to sign Newcastle United's Sammy Ameobi on a season-long loan at Wigan Athletic.

The forward was in the squad for Newcastle's home game against West Ham United on Saturday.

But the 21-year-old could join Championship club Wigan next week.

"He's an out-and-out wide player, who can operate on either side, and will be ideal when we want to play with two wingers," said Coyle.

"He will hopefully give some players a lift and create some competition."

Wigan are in this season's Europa League after winning the FA Cup last season.

Coyle added: "He's got the goals in him, and he's also got Europa League experience, which is something we're lacking."

Ameobi, younger brother of United striker Shola, impressed in pre-season.
All this loan deals are very popular in a country like England so it's common amongst English Clubs....I must kudos them for that.
