The Edo State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife.
The suspect, Mr. Godwin Idon Ojekhua, who angrily clubbed his wife to death over a domestic issue, has however blamed his action on the devil.
National Mirror was told that the incident occurred at Uzeba in Owan West Local Government Area.
The angry husband reportedly picked a piece of wood with which he hit the woman after ignoring pleas by his children to embrace peace.
Explaining how he committed the crime, the suspect said: "I used a piece of wood, the type that we use as firewood to cook. I feel sad now. I think that I was under spiritual attack."
In a related development, the police also arrested another suspected killer, Mr. Benson Egbo, over the death of his mother.
Egbo, who is currently detained at the Ekiadolor Police Station in Benin, was said to have secretly killed his mother and buried her body in a shallow grave in an undeveloped land located near the suspect's family home at Iguosa in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased was reported to have travelled for sometime before the discovery of the grave by members of the community. But the lid was blown off the game when the shallow grave began to emit foul odour after heavy rains.
