. APC-USA backs candidate
Barely twenty-four hours after he defeated Chief Godwin Ezeemo to become the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressivs Congress, APC, Senator Chris Ngige has notched up consultation for the appointment of his running mate.
Already, it was gathered that Ngige has since gone to Abuja where the screening of his possible nominees would be made by the Bisi Akande-led national executives of APC.
Ngige, who represents Anambra Central in the Senate, is expected to pick his running mate from the Northern Zone or from Southern Zone.
However, with the ongoing clamour for power shift to the North, it is expected that Ngige will chose his running mate from the North.
Among those being bandied around as the likely running mate of Ngige, include, Chief Ralphael Okeke, an indigene of Anambra West Local Government Area and former member of the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, the APC New York chapter has urged the people of the state to vote for Ngige in the gubernatorial election. Speaking through its spokesperson, Mr. Okey Ukekwe, said that given another opportunity, Ngige will advance the development of the state to the next level.Ukekwe said: "Our study showed that Ngige implemented only 20 per cent of his blue print, did not share money and needs this opportunity to take Anambra to the next level.
"On the fear that moneybags might hijack the process, we need to plead with our people to beware of those candidates who will distribute money today and recover their investment after the elections.
"We cannot eat today and forget tomorrow, for tomorrow belongs to future generations. Ngige is tested and can be trusted; for he had shown that the commonwealth is for development and not to be shared to the elites and their co-travellers.
"With APGA and PDP in quandary, Anambra people have golden opportunity to vote for Ngige."
